A Brief History of Reynolds' Bargain

Timeline of REA negotiations 2011- 2012
The Reynolds Education Association has been in contract negotiations with the School Board for almost a year. We are concerned about the lack of progress considering the amount of time that has passed. To date this is what has been accomplished:
April 18, 2011 - REA cancelled bargaining session because the District unveiled the budget showing more money than previously reported
May 3, 2011 - bargaining session, exchange of proposals
May 17, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled, 10 articles stay with current language
June 2, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled
June 9, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled
Aug 8, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled
Aug 29, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled
Sept 20, 2011- bargaining session, nothing settled REA Received letter of refusal to bargain on two subjects from the district
Oct 3, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled
Oct 7, 2011 - Call for mediation by the School Board
Oct 18, 2011 - bargaining session, nothing settled- REA offered to meet again while waiting for the mediator to be available, School Board refused
Jan 5, 2012 - mediation session (3 months later), no School Board members attended, 4 articles reach tentative agreement, REA requests another mediation session, board not available for a month
Feb 13, 2012 - mediation session (5 weeks later), nothing settled, REA requests another mediation session, board not available for a month
Mar 15, 2012- mediation session (4 weeks later), 5 articles reach tentative agreement
REA requests another mediation session, board not available for a month
April 12, 2012 - REA called impasse, 13 articles still unresolved
April 27, 2012 - next scheduled mediation (6 weeks later)
We are tired of waiting for the School Board to be ready to settle this contract. It needs to be done now. The School Board had 5 months to bargain with little to no movement on their side. They then refused to meet with us for 3 months. Now that we are in mediation they have only offered 3 meetings, with one more scheduled. We are close to one year with 13 articles still unresolved. Can we continue to wait? We must all feel a sense of urgency in this matter. We want the next school year to have a positive start.
Please tell the Reynolds School Board to make bargaining a priority!
